It is frustrating to see a renewal charge after you thought a subscription had ended. Still, the first step is to establish whether cancellation actually took effect under the agreed terms. A validly authorized recurring payment, an unexpected renewal and an erroneous charge are different situations.<\/p>\n

Identify the billing merchant<\/h2>\n

The name on a card statement might not match the service brand. Check email receipts, app store subscriptions and the provider account you used. If you believe the charge is unauthorized, contact your payment institution quickly through independently verified channels.<\/p>\n

Find the cancellation evidence<\/h2>\n

Look for confirmation emails, screenshots showing that the account is canceled, the date you requested cancellation and the relevant renewal terms. A message saying you requested cancellation might not be the same as a provider confirming the effective end date.<\/p>\n

Don’t supply passwords, identity numbers or security codes to someone who unexpectedly contacts you promising to remove an account charge. Use the original provider’s sign-in portal and the card issuer’s trusted channels.<\/p>\n
